PROJECT COST AND SCHEDULE MANAGEMENT PROCESSES, VALUE ENGINEERING
We utilize VE, to analyze the function of the project design directed at improving performance, reliability, quality, safety, and therefore ultimately the project’s construction budget and life cycle cost. Effective VE provides a forum to communicate project objectives, define and weight evaluation criteria, and assess technical decisions in their performance against those criteria.
On complex projects, we suggest the client consider a VE session(s) to review critical standards and criteria early in the process. Our experience indicates that an in-depth review of standards and criteria can create many opportunities for savings and better value when reviewed by a broad-based team of experts.
Cost Management.
The CM’s contractual requirement for cost management is to assist the client in monitoring the budget by assisting and presenting the client with various engineering solutions which meet the user’s intent as well as maintain full, safe, code compliant, and operable systems. We will provide accurate, responsive solutions and alternates; benchmark project costs against other similar projects; aggressively monitor scope; and manage contingency.
Schedule Management.
Our schedule management responsibility is to prepare and monitor the program and projects’ master schedule. We will initiate this effort immediately after contract award and update it with the A/E’s and the general contractor’s schedules when they become available. We will monitor and adjust it for the duration of the program and each of the projects, as well as track contractor cash flow, progress and pay requests.
